​COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME (CRPS)

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), is a chronic progressive neurological condition that affects skin, muscles, joints, and bones. The syndrome usually develops in an injured limb, such as a broken leg. However, many cases of RSD involve only a minor, seemingly inconsequential injury, such as a contusion or can even result from a medical procedure. RSD or CRPS can even migrate from the initial area of injury to one not injured.

Common symptoms of CRPS can include constant intractable and excruciating pain, skin sensitivity and a constant burning sensation, skin discoloration, hair loss, partial or total disability, and can lead depression.
